Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1800 1977, Faggio
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta (Tipo 116, or "Type 116") is a front-engine, five-passenger sedan and fastback coupé manufactured and marketed by Alfa Romeo from 1972–1987 with a production total over 400,000. The Alfetta was noted for the rear position of its transaxle (clutch and transmission) and its De Dion tube rear suspension — an arrangement designed to optimize handling by balancing front/rear weight distribution, as well as maintaining a low polar moment of inertia and low center of gravity. The interior of Coupé models featured a then unusual central tachometer placement — by itself, directly in front of the driver. The Alfetta name, which means "little Alfa" in Italian, derived from the nickname of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 159 Alfetta, a successful Formula One car which in its last (1951) iteration paired a transaxle layout to De Dion tube rear suspension — like its modern namesake. According to the Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, our car, chassis 11610 0010250, was produced on February 25th, 1975 and delivered on the 20th March to the Italian market, in Milano. This car, one of the last first serie available was ordered by the most famous Alfa Romeo dealer in Milano, Rotondi Spa to Mr Giovanni Papa, the owner of a well knowned Company in Milano, Argenterie Guido Galbiati SRL. Mr Giovanni was a famous Alfa Romeo fan in Italy and owned a lot of them. He keep this nice Alfetta for more than 30 years and sell it to another famous Alfa Romeo collectionneur, Mr Axel Marx in Lugano, Switerzland in 2007. Mr Axel Marx keep the car inside his huge Alfa Romeo Collection in Lugano (Alfa Blue Team…), with more than 100 another rare and great Alfa Romeo models. With only 2 so famous owner, the car was maintaining in very good condition, without expense, always staying in dry and tempered condition.
The car was never restored and only show 77.000 km on the tachy, attested by the original Libretto & Servizio stamped till 1983 at 64.874 km from Alfa Romeo Fratelli Fortini s.n.c in Milano. Comes also with the car, all the original Alfa Romeo other documents, such as Alfetta GT Uso & Manutenzione, Italia Europa Guida dei Assistenziali, and the original Rotondi Spa letter sleeve…
Finished in the correct Faggio AR516, with its Velluto Grigio City interior, one of the rarest color combination, this particular GT 1800 remains in stunning condition and with a very famous history.
